My husband and I are planning to spend 6 days in Orlando for our first anniversary. We're mainly going for Disney World, but while we're there would like to go to Universal Studios, too.
There are 4 Disney parks and 2 Universal parks, so that gives us 1 day for each. Is 1 day enough for each Disney park? I went about 5 years ago when I was in college, but I just can't remember/think if 1 day each will work!
Any TalkDisney veterans out there have any advice?
PS- We're going the 2nd week of November.
PPS- I'm not a fan of Epcot, so I doubt we'll spend even a whole day there.
Re: Is 1 day per park enough for all 4 Walt Disney World parks?
I doubt it. This is our 4th trip coming up soon and we still have yet to see everything. All you can do is make the best of the time you spend in each park. My advice is for you to spend a half day in Animal Kingdom (since they close early anyway) and the other half in EPCOT (if you're not a huge fan of EPCOT). Then you will have a whole extra day to spend at Magic Kingdom, or Hollywood Studios.
Re: Is 1 day per park enough for all 4 Walt Disney World parks?
I agree with GOOfyDad. It's asking a lot to try to do 4 parks in 4 days. It can be done, but you will miss so much.
You are also not taking into account taking any time off to rest. By the end of the trip you will be exhausted.
Of course I am counting your trip to Universal too!

Goofydad has it about right, split up the parks you're not a huge fan of, in your case Animal Kingdom which you can probably get done in about 1/2 a day followed by whatever you'd like to see at Epcot.
The key will be to get an idea what is a must see and aim for those first, if something doesn't interest you skip it and if you have some time later fit in some things that don't light your world on fire. 6 parks in 6 days is quite ambitious, you may want to come up with a plan b for a 1/2 day to rest or sleep in to recharge your batteries just in case. In that case I'd suggest making Universal Studios an early day as there isn't quite a full day out there if you've been before.

Re: Is 1 day per park enough for all 4 Walt Disney World parks?
I can only really echo what everyone else has said.
You can certainly have a fantastc time by doing a day at each park but you will have to miss a lot.
Even at AK, if you are doing all the big rides you may struggle with a full day (though I agree with G00fyDad - for us it's a half day park).
Epcot's World Showcase can be great in the evenings and can be reached easily by boat from DHS so for me, that's the obvious way to save a day - especially as I've never found DHS to be a full day park).
You could then do a day and a half in MK and on the half day, hop on the monorail to Epcot to do Future World.
Just make sure you use Fast Pass at every available opportunity so you don't waste time standing in line.
At Universal, we usually do the Studios in half a day then walk across to IoA. Admittedly though, we then go back and do it in reverse another day (IoA first then the Studios).
Having said that, there's no reason why you can't spend a whole day at IoA (saves time walking between two parks), half a day at the Studios and the drive (I assume your driving?) back to WDW and spend the evening in MK to catch the evening parade.
Just take good shoes, drink lots (preferably in the shade!), eat only counter service (why waste time sitting in restaurants?) and prepare to be exhausted!

Re: Is 1 day per park enough for all 4 Walt Disney World parks?
I do agree with my TD Colleagues on everything they have said. But...I have done all 4 parks in one day, seeing exactly what I wanted to see. Now, I have to admit, my upcoming trip next month will be my 35th visit. Or 36, can't remember, enough to know how to get around the parks. But for someone who is not all that familiar, it could prove to be a big task. Go down and just take your time seeing what you want to see and enjoy yourselves.

I say don't worry about what you didn't see just enjoy what you do see. No matter how many times you go to Disney there will always be something you didn't get to do for many reasons. Remember, everything that you don't get to do is a good excuse to plan another trip!!!
Relax, enjoy your trip and just try to soak up as much magic as you can!

Excellent point!
We go for 2 weeks at a time and still miss some bits (mainly if the attraction is closed or we just don't fancy doing it - things like Mission Space for example).
If you have 4 days, make the best of those 4 days.
Have a n idea of your must-dos and aim to hit them all. Everything else you do is a bonus then.

I just realized when you are going, the second week of Nov. shouldn't be too crowded. If you gat to the parks early you should be able to get a lot done.
Also did you know that the Food and Wine Festival is still going on? You might want to re-tink Epcot. From what I understand the F&W is awesome! You may end up spending more time here than you originally thought. Or if you really can't stand Epcot (gasp! - this is my favorite park!) you may want to avoid it completely!

We r doing five days witha hopper pass. where we have one day of rest. We r going to try to tackle the same task. We kinda know r way around and have are break in the day planned.. A good plan always helps.

Re: Is 1 day per park enough for all 4 Walt Disney World parks?
I have to go against a lot of people here...
I was able to do everything in three days (with a park hopper). We split it up like this.
We did AK (only doing it's tough to be a bug and everest) and MK(missing out on Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, and Peter Pan, as well as other Fantasyland attractions) on one day.
Then we did Epcot (sticking to Future World) and did all the major rides at DHS on the second day.
I made a solo trip on a third day( without my family...they went to Coco beach). I started out early at MK, riding the mountains I missed earlier and Snow White and Winnie the Pooh. Then I monorailed over to Epcot and rode and watched the World Showcase rides/shows. Lastly, I went to the AK to ride Dinosaur and Everest (twice).
The best tip I can give? USE THE SINGLE RIDER LINES IF POSSIBLE! Everest, Test Track, and Rockin Rollercoaster have them! They cut so much time.
Bonus Tip! Over at the Universal Parks, many rides have single rider lines, some of which are hidden. The Hulk, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, The Mummy, the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and Men In Black all have them. RipRideRockit does as well, but it's not usually open...
Okay. So this post turned into a trip report. My point? It can be done in three days, if you spend your time wisely!

Re: Is 1 day per park enough for all 4 Walt Disney World parks?
I've done it all in 6 days...we were exhausted...but it CAN be done. We actually did both Universal parks in a day using Front of the Line passes (PRICELESS AT UNIVERSAL!!!) If 6 days is all you have, sit down together & make of list of the things you don't want to miss. You'll probably find that a park or two may only take a 1/2 or 3/4 day to get thru...then the rest of the day, you can relax or go back & "hit" some things on your "maybe" list. GOOD LUCK!!! But most of all....HAVE FUN, DO RELAX A BIT & SAVOR WDW!!!! :-)
