We're planning to go this year. Although I'm not really into Halloween that much, I'm looking forward to meeting villains and seeing the Headless Horseman. Oh, and the candy, of course!
Do they give away Disney candy or regular brands?

The candy they have is regular candy brands, there's villains galore and the villain parade which cannot be beat. I think it's very worth the experience.

We go to MNSSHP next year, so much looking forward to it, Headless Horseman sounds amazing and already love the parade from seeing it on YouTube (the man with the shovels are awesome too)
Only heard great things about MNSSHP
Looking forward to our Disney vacations

Re: is mickey's not so scary Halloween party worth it??
I don't want to put a downer on this thread but I struggle with the whole MNSSHP thing.
Maybe it's because we don't travel with kids but I wouldn't dress up (not my thing!) and I'm not interested in candy (I'd rather buy it from the resort gift shop than stand in line to get it!).
We barely watch parades when we're in the parks so that doesn't interest me either and we saw Hallowishes from the top of the California Grill and it seemed pretty much the same as any other fireworks.
So for a grouch like me, am I missing anything else? I'd imagine there's a great atmosphere but I think I'd feel very out of place as the boring old ******** who won't join in the "fun"!
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away!

This may sound corny but it's all about the kids.
We first went to MNSSH night when we were a young couple and found the whole thing a bit strange. It's great to get to stay in the park late and it was decorated up brilliantly but was it worth the extra money? Not really. Seeing little kids run around dressed as Batman or a Pirate was fun but seeing full grown adults with no kids in full fancy dress seemed out of place (may be a British thing that, sorry!).
Now we have 2 little ones we look forward to doing this event as one of the highlights on any holiday. We still don't get dressed up (bore) but we dress the kids up and they seem to love it. They may look back, when we post pictures of them during their wedding, and cringe but for now it's a brilliant way to spend an evening in Florida.

I can't wait to do it! I'll be dressing up and dancing along with the kids! To me it's worth it just to see lotso and be allowed a costume

That's how I feel too - must be a Brit thing! I'd just feel a bit childish dressing up without kids.
I hope that doesn't come across as offensive as I think it's great that people can dress up and have fun (with or without kids). It's just, sadly, I can't so miss out on the fun.
I'm not "wired" that way.

I'm 16 and I LOVE dressing up for Halloween! (And your typical provocative teenager costumes either). I love going as different characters! Last year I was the Johnny Depp version of the Mad Hatter (I girl'ed it up a bit though
). This year I'm going as Sally from NBC and I can't wait!! This is my first time going to MNSSHP and I'm super excited!!!

Hi all newbie here n going to mnsshp again this year but I was wondering if Disney does anything else on property as well I love Halloween!
- If you are there on Halloween (10/31) some of the hotels have trick or treating at there location. Last year we stayed at Wilderness Lodge and kids walked to various parts of the hotel for treats. Very cute.

Are there any rides open during MNSSHP?
- Yes rides are open during MNSSHP. I believe it is similar to extra magic hours.
