No balcony rule? Is that no smoking on a balcony?

As for smoking areas, I think they're shown on park maps.

My sister smokes and she's never had a problem finding smoking areas in WDW! They are hidden quite well and you might miss them without a map! I'm pretty certain they are marked on them apps! 8:0) XXX

I'm glad they enforce smoking areas, it's one thing I can't stand is being stood behind someone smoking or being stuck in a enclosed space with someone smoking

The smoking areas are around the parks. Theres one in every land. Now seaworld I feel caters to smokers. They have shade and they seems to be more smoking spots. As far a smoking on the balconies I don't think you'll run into any problems as long as your aware of your surroundings. Have a magical time!

Normally I'm ok with the smoking area's, very well done. And I'm happy to see (most) people smoke only there (agree with the balcony too, sorry
)
Only bad smoking area is the one very near the place where they sell my favorite WDW snack, near Aloha Isle (!)
That's where I almost had my one meltdown last year, it was hot, busy and wanted to enjoy my long awaited Pineapple float and the only decent place to sit at that moment was near the smoking area (!)
So I rushed to another place, with my melting Dolewhip and my DH trying to walk the same pace as me
......,
So, smokers, please, anywhere but there
And I agree with the others, there are enough places you can smoke, no worry, look at the maps
Never heard complaints from the people who I know who are smoking and went to WDW.
I heard something about rockingchairs at the Beachclub as a great place to smoke
Looking forward to our Disney vacations

Re: Smoking at WDW?
I agree with the no balcony smoking rule for the same reasons as Winkster. I'd like to be able to open my door without smoke smell coming inside. I am an ex-smoker who cannot stand to breathe someone else's smoke or even have to smell it.

Thanks everyone, while I'm glad it's been catered for and not banned completely I guess the strictness in highly outdoor areas is just not European enough for me

I'm a smoker and the smoking areas are very easy to find. I'm totally all for the designated areas I'm very respectful when it comes to smoking there exspeacialy. I just hate it when ppl walk threw them and look at us like we are doing somthing wrong.

Re: Smoking at WDW?
I agree with not wanting smoke to come lingering in my room either, not just because it stinks but because second hand smoke is just as bad for you. And as for the park or parks because they both have designated smoking areas, I think it's still not good because the cigarette smoke still lingers and I don't want me or my family having to smell it.

Don't worry about those people as long as you're in a designated smoking area.

Re: Smoking at WDW?
I have to admit, I'd much rather all of the parks at WDW were made non-smoking but they're not.
If you're smoking in a smoking area and someone scowls though, smile back sweetly, safe in the knowledge that you're in the right. If they want to get angry, it's their day they're ruining. You're doing nothing wrong.
A smug smile can be a great come-back sometimes!

Re: Smoking at WDW?
I quit smoking recently, so I can relate well to this post. In 2010, and 2011, I did Disney as a smoker, but this year I didn't. After a few months now of not smoking, what smokers don't realize is that the smell really does carry for ten to twenty feet, if not more. This is why those who are hypersensitive about it (some for real reasons, but normally because they just love to be righteously indignant), complain.
I didn't mind it, but it did strike me how much it smells. When you smoke, you get used to it, and you don't notice it.
That being said, I find that most people respect Disney's smoking policy, and did on this trip as well in my experience. So those who expect it or want it to be non-smoking, the smoking places are clearly marked on the map. Avoid them. Vice versa, for those who care to smoke, the smoking areas are clearly marked on park maps, so use them.
