Cinderella's Golden Carousel
What's the oldest Walt
Disney World attraction? This magnificent carousel -- built in 1917. You
just can't resist the gentle charm of saddling up a horse and spinning to
the jaunty rhythm of classic Disney music. Choose your steed carefully. No
two of the horses are exactly alike. Cinderella's Golden Carrousel is
an authentic, antique carrousel ride for all ages in Fantasyland at Magic
Kingdom Theme Park inspired by the classic Disney film Cinderella. In
true amusement park tradition, this 90-horse carousel plays organ-based
Disney classics during its 2 minute ride. Climb aboard an ornate
carrousel horse and gallop along with Cinderella and her Prince Charming
through a whirling backdrop of color and music—including favorite Disney
tunes played on an old-fashioned organ. The carousel was originally built by The Philadelphia Toboggan Company, one of the most prestigious carousel companies, in 1917. In 1967, Walt Disney purchased the handmade carousel (and horses) from the Olympic Park[1] in Maplewood, New Jersey. The original name of the carousel was Liberty, and the maidens can still be seen on the top of the carousel. Cinderella's own horse can be found in the second rank of horses. It is the only one that has a golden bow on its tail.
