Penguin Encounter:
Experience SeaWorld's slice of the Antarctic, the Penguin Encounter, while a 120-foot-long moving walkway transports you through this frozen wonderland. You can see more than 200 penguins -- including Rock-hopper, Gentoo and King -- and three species of flighted birds as they jump, slide and dive both above and below the water.

Fun Facts:

This icy habitat is home to four species of penguins: king, gentoo, chinstrap and rockhopper.

The air is a chilly 30 degrees and the water an icy 45 degrees.

6,000 pounds of snow fall daily inside the naturalistic habitat.

The habitat is reminiscent of the primitive Antarctic with its rocky cliffs and icy waters.

Summary Puffins and Penguins

Reviewer's Comments

We always enjoy going to the Penguin Encounter at Sea World. On a hot day it is a great place to just get some quality AC and relax for a while. The penguins are really quite entertaining and children love being able to watch them (sometimes for quite a long period).

They recently changed the format for where you enter the exhibit. Now you enter through the puffin area and are then led to the interactive area then to the moving walkway and penguin viewing. I'm not a real fan of the change but I'm guessing they did it to funnel people into the puffin area. They also recently re-installed the benches which are a great place to take a load off.
