Reviewer's Comments:
Summary: Sharks!

I really enjoy the Shark Encounter, it's a lot fun and a nice indoor attraction. Sea World doesn't seem to have quite enough indoor based attractions so this a great one to get out of the heat with.

The building is shared with the full service restaurant Sharks Underwater Grill, so it is quite a large building but some of it is the restaurant.

On the outside is a nice area with some rays, fish and smaller sharks. We enjoy watching and the backround music is very relaxing plus you can feed the inhabitants as well.

When you first come into the building they have a walk through coral reef aquarium with a few small sharks, puffer fish and various others. It tends to get kind of bottleneck crowded in here and it's not my favorite area so if something doesn't hit your fancy just kind of glance through.

The next section is a large open room with a lionfish area, a barracuda area and a sea dragon area. They are all done pretty well, if one is really busy do another and kind of come back. The seadragon area is quite small and they really do camouflage well. One big tip: Look for the eels they have hidden in the barracuda area, they're hard to spot but kind of cool to watch.

The next area you come into is an alcove that has some different amphibians. It gets tremendously crowded in this area as kids really enjoy seeing the frogs, skinks and snakes. It's a nice little area but very very crowded so just be prepared for that.

On the way to the main tank/tunnel you also see a few stuffed sharks and jaws, kind of interesting and the stuffed great white is a favorite picture spot.

You view the main tank by stepping onto a moving walkway through a large tunnel where the sharks are all around you. It's hard to describe but it's basically a 360 degree view of the tank. It's kind of eerie in there but it's a whole lot of fun as the aquarium has quite a few different species of sharks, the biggest grouper I've ever seen and perhaps the largest ray as well. If you have a propensity to be really claustrophobic or are really afraid of sharks I'd suggest perhaps skipping this one or having someone with you give you an idea if you'd like it or not.
