Former Disney executive becomes Marilyn Monroe Spas CEO

Orlando-based Marilyn Monroe Spas has named former Disney Vacation Club president Jim Lewis its chief executive officer.

Al Weiss, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ former president of worldwide operations, and Niki Kearn, who used to run Disney resort spas, created Marilyn Monroe Spas in 2012. The company has 10 spas and nail salons around the country. It also plans to launch a national beauty school business.

“When Al approached me about the opportunity to be the CEO of this growing company, I was interested in being part of creating a global brand from the ground up,” Lewis said in a press release. “I’m honored and excited to make the transition from working in large corporations to leading this dynamic entrepreneurial start up.”

Lewis spent 15 years with the Walt Disney Co. Disney forced him out in 2011 because of financial problems with Aulani, a hotel and time-share in Hawaii. He later joined Walmart, where he led the retailer’s Central Florida operations.

Lewis replaces Kearn as CEO. Kearn will be on the newly formed board of directors team, along with Weiss, Lewis, and two leaders from JCR Holdings, which recently invested $20 million in Marilyn Monroe Spas.
