In the video, The Rock announced the reveal of the “Maui airplane” and pointed out his character’s portrait behind the wing of the plane. However, he was then joined by Auli’i Carvalho, who voices Moana, who jokingly pointed out that the front of the plane says “Moana” and has her character pictured as well.
The plane also features the amazing characters Hei Hei (the chicken) and Pua (the pig.) The Rock wrote in his Instagram post caption that the inside of the plane would also be Maui-themed and when the lights are dimmed in the cabin, Hawaiian Airlines passengers will be able to see projections of constellations. Sounds absolutely amazing to us! Here’s the full video:
We can already see what an amazing duo Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Auli’i Carvalho are going to be on screen as Maui and Moana. And in the words of The Rock himself, taken from his Instagram video caption:
“Stopped by the Honolulu International Airport for the epic unveiling of the MAUI AIRPLANE named after my character that’ll be flown around the globe. Disney partnered with @HawaiianAirlines to design this incredible aircraft for the world to see. The interior of the plane has my character images throughout – and when the cabin lights are dimmed, the passengers will get treated to the constellations (true story) since my character is not only a demigod, but the world’s greatest way finder. Oh and that beautiful young lady in the background who ruined my shot, is @auliicravalho… the, uh.. well.. the one who the movie is technically named after..#MOANA.”
This is the first of three “Moana”-themed Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A330 planes that will be revealed. The planes will fly on Hawaiian’s regularly scheduled U.S. domestic routes as well as to international destinations including Brisbane and Sydney, Australia; Osaka and Tokyo, Japan; and Auckland, New Zealand through March 2017.
