After canceling a previously planned relocation this summer, the Chef Mickey’s experience will now temporarily move to the convention center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort later this year. This is expected to take place in . Though the location will be changing during this time period, current guests reservations will still be valid.
One of the most memorable views at Walt Disney World is the beautiful Grand Canyon Concourse at the Contemporary Resort. This huge room stretches over 100 feet in the air with monorail gliding throughout it and a Mary Blair mosaic stretching up the center of it.
One of the best ways to enjoy this breath-taking view is from Chef Mickey’s. The all-you-can-eat character dining buffet is a popular choice for many guests. With Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the rest of the Fab Five (plus a few friends) and those monorails passing overhead this is one of the must-do character meals at Walt Disney World but at the end of this month that changes.
Due to kitchen maintenance, Chef Mickey’s is being booted from the Grand Canyon Concourse and instead will call the convention center home from late November through mid-December. This is due to unplanned maintenance that requires the restaurant to close.
The character dining buffet will still take place but in a very different location. Disney has yet to confirm what area in the convention center the buffet restaurant will be located in but none of the rooms have the beautiful monorail views.
If you’re looking to meet Mickey somewhere more exciting than a convention center hall there’s still plenty of other dining options where he frequents including Tusker House in Animal Kingdom, The Garden Grill in Epcot, and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness but few offer the full day of character dining that Chef Mickey’s does and none offer that gorgeous view of the monorails passing overhead.
