On December 8, Disney+ will launch its ad-supported subscription tier in the US.

This week, we discovered the U.S. launch date and price for Disney+’s ad-supported tier, which the company indicated will be added to its service earlier this year.

The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) disclosed the facts yesterday as part of their fiscal third-quarter report.

Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, made the following remarks during the announcement:

“With our new ad-supported Disney+ offering and an expanded lineup of plans across our entire streaming portfolio, we will be providing greater consumer choice at a variety of price points to cater to the diverse needs of our viewers and appeal to an even broader audience.

Together, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ have over 100,000 movie and TV titles, TV episodes, original series, sports, and live events, making them the greatest streaming options available today in terms of value.

At debut, “no adverts in kids profiles or pre-school,” according to TWDC CEO Bob Chapek.

Unknown intentions exist for Disney+ outside of the United States. They could take this market’s experience into account before expanding.

The Details
