Disney World holiday plans include Toy Story Land, ‘Up’ show

The new Toy Story Land will get a sprinkling of holiday cheer, Walt Disney World says. The Alien Swirling Saucers ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have holiday songs in its soundtrack, among other unspecified enhancements, the company said on its official blog on Monday.

The spinning ride, which officially came online June 30, already has an electronica/arcade-ish set of tunes, including a rendition of the “Toy Story” song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

Another new holiday offering will be added to “Up! A Great Bird Adventure,” a stage show that debuted this year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. The production will incorporate Diwali, the holiday Festival of Lights in India, the blog said. Mickey’s Jingle Jammin’ Parade last rumbled through the park in 2013.

In a recap of its holiday offerings, Disney said Hollywood Studios would again be home to the “Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam” show and “Sunset Season Greetings” projections featured on Tower of Terror. Visitors will be able to meet Santa Claus at the park’s Once Upon a Time shop from Nov. 10 through Dec. 24. (Santa Goofy takes over on Dec. 25, Disney notes.)

At Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party — an after-hours, extra ticket event — kicks off on Nov. 8,

The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays starts Nov. 18. Among the festivities will be the Candlelight Processional, Holiday Kitchens and Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree scavenger hunt.
