1It took about 20 years for Mary Poppins to get made.
Walt first went after the rights to make the film in 1938, which was four years after P.L. Travers released the first book, Mary Poppins. Despite the author turning him down, Walt never gave up. He sent his brother Roy to ask her again in 1944, but the answer was still no. It wasn’t until 1959, when Walt went to see her in person, that she finally said yes. The film finally was released on August 27, 1964.[the_ad id=’5769′]
