A Texas woman has filed a lawsuit against SeaWorld and the Orlando Sentinel for sharing what she claims is a wiretapped phone conversation.
The complaint filed in Orange County, Texas, states that SeaWorld in 2010 purchased a video recording of a “personal and sensitive” phone conversation between the unidentified Texas woman and her lifelong friend John Hargrove.
At the time, Hargrove was a SeaWorld employee. He worked as a senior whale trainer there before leaving the company and then appearing in the 2013 documentary “Blackfish,” which was critical of SeaWorld for its treatment of captured whales.
The lawsuit says SeaWorld provided the recording to the Orlando Sentinel, which posted it online and shared it in its newspaper.
