The “floating mountains” of Pandora — the “Avatar”-themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom — are beginning to take shape.
Part of the framed landscape of “Pandora – The World of Avatar” can be seen poking up from behind construction walls at the theme park. The new land, themed after James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster, is planned for opening in 2017 and is part of the largest expansion in the park’s history.
More details about Pandora (including the official name) were released at the D23 event in August. The land will have at least two attractions — a ride based on the banshee characters called “Flight of Passage” and a gentler boat ride that will take visitors through a bioluminescent forest.
