On the heels of the new Express Shuttle service, which transports guests from park to park with in-park drop-off and pickup stations, Disney World is launching another new up-charge transit option, and this one might sound a bit familiar.
Guests at Walt Disney World will be able to request private point-to-point transportation in small electric cars driven by cast members. The entire system sounds like a blatant rip-off of private taxi transportation network services such as Uber and Lyft.
WDWNT is reporting that information has started being shared with cast members at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts about the long-rumored “Uber-Style” service Disney World will be launching. Guests at these resorts and the Boardwalk will be a part of the initial test for this service, rolling out slowly over the next few weeks. A team of Chevrolet Traverse vehicles will be utilized.
Guests can expect a flat rate to anywhere on property when utilizing the Minnie Vans service once it launches. While we don’t have an exact number, we expect the rate to be between $15 and $20 a ride. Additional information on the proprietary app or how guests will be able to use the service are scarce right now.
Few details on the new service, have been leaked, but we do know that Disney is only hiring internally for the program. Eligible cast members must have worked at Disney World for at least a year, have held a Florida driver’s license for at least three years, and be extremely knowledgeable on all things Walt Disney World.
