Five things to know about the Edison, a new eatery at Disney Springs.

• The theme for Edison, as it fits into the Disney Springs schemes, is that this is a re purposed power plant. There’s a lot of mechanical décor, including giant clocks and boiler room equipment. We’re told everything on the walls is authentic, picked up at estate sales and the like, not recreations from the folks at Walt Disney Imagineering.

• It’s a restaurant, but there are three free-standing bars, each with distinct looks. And there are several nooks and crannies that could lend themselves for small talk among small groups. (I have my eye on a specific comfy chair on the upper level.)

• What to eat? The menu looks meaty (prime rib, meat loaf, etc.) and there’s something called The Edison that’s described as “signature beef blend of sirloin, shortrib + brisket, cabot cloth bound cheddar, onions rings, smoked bacon, house-made pickles, lettuce, tomato, special sauce.” No mention of partridge in a pear tree, but it comes with fries. Entrees are mid $20s to low $30s.

• There’s an entertainment factor. Live music, an aerialist act, dance floor and more are things that happen at select times on select night. (There’s a $10 cover after 10 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, when the joint goes 21 and up.)

• The Edison is owned by Patina Restaurant Group, which also operates the neighboring Maria & Enzo’s, Pizza Ponte and Enzo’s Hideaway, not to mention the around-the-corner Morimoto Asia and Epcot’s Tutto Italia and Via Napoli. That’s just a sliver of their eateries, which stretch from the Empire State Building in New York to the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
