This North Carolina boss wants to ensure that her employees are happy, and what better way to do that than to take them to the happiest place on Earth?
Rumors circulated at the State Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh that they were going to be taken on a trip to Disney World, WRAL-TV reported.
“I did not believe it,” employee Jessica Burr told the TV station. “I thought it was crazy.”
But restaurant owner Gypsy Gilliam closed up shop last week and took around 20 employees and their families to Disney World in Orlando.
Gilliam provided everything. All she wanted was for her staff to have fun.
“The room, the board, the food, the rides — everything was free for us,” employee Nelson Ellison told WRAL.
It was also an emotional ride for some.
Burr said she likely wouldn’t have been able to take her 5-year-old son to Disney World if it wasn’t for Gilliam’s generous gift.
“I am forever grateful to Gypsy, and I don’t have any idea how to pay her back,” she said.
All Gilliam wanted to do was show some appreciation to her employees, feeling “blessed to be able to give them a little magic in their lives.”
