DisneyQuest has been leveled. The video-driven attraction, an imposing staple at Disney Springs, closed this summer, and now the building has been completely removed from the western edge of the entertainment complex.
Heavy machinery continue to move rubble around on Friday morning, but none of DisneyQuest’s walls remain. A construction wall around the area features recently released renderings of NBA Experience, which is scheduled to open in this location in 2019.
The absence of the five-story building, which was built in 1998, opens up a new view of the area, revealing a clear shot of the Cirque du Soleil building (current home of “La Nouba”) and the House of Blues restaurant and concert venue, especially on the ramp to DIsney Springs’ Orange Garage.
Dismantling of the DisneyQuest building began soon after the attraction closed in July. The demolition became more obvious to passers-by last month.
The construction wall imagery shows the exterior of NBA Experience, which is “inspired by the modern architecture of new NBA arenas around the country,” according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog. It will feature interactive games, “immersive experiences” and a restaurant.
The renderings show a giant screen – showing an Orlando Magic game — over the entrance, a curved roofline with images of players incorporated.
