A massive new solar farm project is planned for Walt Disney World property in Orange County.
Miami-based Origis Energy USA and Reedy Creek Improvement District announced an agreement to build a solar facility they say will generate approximately 120,000 megawatt hours of power each year.
The site is in Orange County, near the Magnolia and Palm Golf Courses, east of State Road 429.
The new solar facility will be about 270 acres. The project will include 518,000 solar panels.
A solar farm near Epcot, which has been operational since 2016, features 48,000 solar panels.
“The project will create up to 300 jobs during construction, which is anticipated to start by late spring 2018 and be completed by year end 2018,” Origis Energy officials said.
