Actor Neil Patrick Harris is well-known for his star-stealing movie and stage performances, so it’s no wonder he and his family are unbelievably fond of Disney’s enchantment. The company Walt Disney, founded by the Walt Disney namesake company, has long been a beacon of unrestrained innovation and inventiveness. Children are particularly fond of it.
In an Interview with People, Harris disclosed that every year at Christmas Harris travels to Orlando’s Disney World to his family — made up of his spouse, David Burtka, and their two children, the 10-year-old Harper Grace and Gideon Scott. In fact, he said that every year he will continue to take his children to the resort, until they “can no longer stand.” We’re sure many children would only dream of such a family trip every year! That doesn’t seem very terrible for us!
The announcement came as Harris discussed his new collaboration with the Accor hostel chain with the magazine. He spoke about traveling and family holidays, bringing up Disney’s affection for him and his family and for other places further away. He is the star of Accor’s new digital ALL Gets Real campaign which shows him traveling through the lens of a post-pandemic environment.
Harris’s career has not gone astray as he is adored in his performances, which include “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “A Series of Unlucky Events,” and which are the host of Emmys, Tonys, and Oscars.
Neil Patrick Harris started his conversation with People on Disney’s love for his family and stated:
“Our kids have grown up appreciating and valuing not only the amusement rides, but the architecture and the Imagineering that goes on, both in front and behind the scenes.”
He goes on to say:
“So I still look back on how that has been an important part of their lives and I can’t wait to continue it until they can’t stand me anymore.”
He says that he and his husband David Burtka’s 10-year-old twins, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace, have been traveling “since they were less than one year old.” In terms of how they’re like to travel with, he says:
“They’re good, they like to travel. It gives them extra time to play on their screens, which is the greatest dangling carrot advice anyone can give. Let them sit and watch things that they want to watch when they’re on an airplane because it’s a great diversion.”
Harris conducted the interview as part of a new relationship with the hospitality firm Accor. He appears in their most recent digital ad, ALL Gets Real, in which he teaches the viewer how to be a “real person” while traveling again after the epidemic. In the campaign, Harris teaches vacation etiquette lessons on themes including planning, clothing, greetings, small conversation, and resting. He had this to say about the campaign:
“It’s relatively tongue in cheek, but I think it’s a good way to get your brain around the notion of travel again.”
In addition to Walt Disney World, Harris revealed another tourist location that is “high on their list as well.” He stated that it is a coastal spot in Europe, off the coast of Croatia. He elaborated:
“A few years ago we went to Croatia to visit a friend in Hvar, which is a spectacular, small, amazing destination [in] the gorgeous Adriatic Sea. We would just swim up to a rocky crag and climb super high and then jump into the water.”
That seems like paradise to us! Harris, who is now a picture-perfect family of four, didn’t always have it easy. She came out publicly in 2006, decades after she had already been in show industry. Harris and Burtka have been dating since 2004, two years before Harris formally came out in 2006. At the time, he told People:
“I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love.”
The couple revealed in 2010 that they were expecting twins through a surrogate mother, and their children were delivered in October of that year. When the Marriage Equality Act was enacted in New York one year later, they announced their engagement; however, they confessed they’d previously proposed five years before. They married in 2014 in Italy, in a ceremony conducted by Pamela Fryman, a longtime director of “How I Met Your Mother,” with Elton John performing.
