During the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, Disneyland showed off a scale model and new information about the changes they are making to Splash Mountain for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
When Tiana finally moves into New Orleans Square, a huge bronze-and-gold tiara on top of a new water tower sticking out of the hillside of Splash Mountain will make it clear that she has taken over the classic Disneyland attraction.
During the D23 Expo, which started at the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday, September 9, Disneyland showed off a model of how Splash Mountain will change into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open again at the Anaheim theme park in late 2024.
The logo for Tiana’s Foods will be on the water tower with the tiara on top. The new backstory for the attraction says that the community food co-op was set up in 1927.
In the new backstory for Splash Mountain, the restaurant owner turned princess opens Tiana’s Foods after the success of Tiana’s Palace restaurant in the 2009 animated movie “Princess and the Frog.”
The backstory says that the employee-owned food cooperative is in an old salt mine that used to be part of Splash Mountain. Growers plant crops along the waterway that flows around the famous mountain peak.
Riders on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will go up the lift hill through a mill house built into the side of a mountain. The mill house is powered by water troughs that feed a water wheel that spins.
An audio-animatronic otter will play a fiddle made out of a tin can, tree bark, and fishing line in the show scenes of the remodeled log flume ride.
Mama Odie, the voodoo priestess in the movie, will turn on magical lighting effects that will fill the hilltop cavern with glowing colors right before riders go down the log ride’s steep drop.
Tiana’s plan to take over the land around Splash Mountain at Disneyland is likely to force the Critter Country attraction to move into the nearby New Orleans Square.
In a few weeks, the first part of Tiana’s takeover of Splash Mountain will open next to the Blue Bayou restaurant. This will explain what has been “cooking” in New Orleans Square for more than a year.
On September 20, Eudora’s Chic Boutique will open in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. Part of the new store will be dedicated to Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets. The Disney princess Tiana’s mother was a seamstress, so the store is named after her.
Concept art for the new attraction shows that a corner of Eudora’s Chic Boutique will have a scene from the past with a sewing machine, a sewing mannequin, and aprons.
Signs in the window of the closed Le Bat en Rouge store that said “Something New is Cooking” led Mouse Watchers to think that a Tiana-themed restaurant would open there. The new store will likely sell clothes and things for the kitchen.
Born in 1993, my Father John and mother Sarah have taking me to Disney since I was an infant. When I am not blogging about Disney I am scrapbooking and planning my next Disney vacation!
