Walt Disney World is planning a number of new rides and attractions.
‘Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure’ will open to the public on October 1st, marking the 50th anniversary of the film. For a 4D gastronomic journey based on the popular film, guests are reduced down to the size of a mouse. Guests at Gusteau’s restaurant in Paris run and scurry across the kitchen, dining area, and even the walls, just like Remy.
“You don’t know where you’re going to go next, which is so incredible to people to have the story unfold without you knowing what’s next,”
said Matt Beiler, a producer at Walt Disney Imagineering.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Get ready, adrenaline seekers: the ‘TRON Lightcycle Run’ attraction at Magic Kingdom will open shortly. The huge tower being erected right next Disney Space Mountain in Tomorrowland has already wowed park visitors. At Shanghai Disneyland, there is already a variation of the rollercoaster. Riders are seated on a vehicle that resembles a ‘lightcycle’ from the film ‘TRON.’
If you prefer not to ride on the grid, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind‘ attraction at EPCOT is currently under development. It is expected to open in the year 2022. The journey will begin at the Galaxarium, where visitors will learn about the parallels and differences between Earth’s galaxy and the planet ‘Xandar.’ When the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ appear, visitors are taken on a wild trip.
However, this isn’t your ordinary roller coaster. It boasts the first-ever reverse launch for a Disney roller coaster, and the vehicles can spin 360 degrees.
Last but not least, if the line where the sky meets the sea speaks to you, EPCOT is getting a new ‘Moana’ attraction. It will be known as ‘Moana: Journey of Water,’ and it will be the first experience based on the popular film. Like in the movie, the walk-through exploration route will allow you to meet and play with mystical, living water.
The value of the natural water cycle will also be taught to visitors. The exact date of the opening has yet to be revealed.
While new rides and attractions are being added, some are changing.
‘Splash Mountain,’ for example, is being re-themed after the film ‘The Princess and the Frog.’ The ride will begin after the movie’s last kiss and will be a Mardi Gras celebration, according to Disney. There hasn’t been any word on when it will open.
