Pangani Forest Exploration Trail

Enter this research centre filled with East African mammals, birds, and fish, with lush African foliage, numerous streams, waterfalls and forests. See an exotic bird aviary, an underwater hippo viewing area, a savannah overlook, and a magnificent troop of gorillas.

When to go - before 10am or late afternoon

Facts:

When Animal Kingdom opened in April 1998, this trail was named Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail -- it was renamed a few months later.

The hippos are actually the same ones you will sometimes see on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride in the savannah. The hippo barn resides in between Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and the savannah river.

Gorilla Falls, was the original name for Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. In Swahili, Pangani means place of enchantment for such is the trail.

In the naked mole rat building, look at the reflection of lights in the central display case near the wall, on the "Asepso" box on the desk to the right of the building's entrance and on a backpack in the far left-hand corner of the room.
